Rugby, league & cricket
Local sport is where New Zealand betting interest is deepest, whatever the payment method behind a stake. This section follows the codes through the seasons.
Summer belongs to cricket, and the Black Caps lead the searches; winter turns to rugby union, NRL and AFL, with the Warriors, Super Rugby Pacific and the All Blacks close behind. A lopsided match tends to be priced by line betting or a handicap.
Where a match is played does not narrow the prohibition: it reaches events anywhere in the world. A bookmaker abroad that wants bets on NZ events from customers elsewhere needs the national sporting organisation to agree first.
